Ever wonder what months have the highest pediatric fractures?
A recent study of 5,772 pediatric trauma consults over 957 days shows how weather and temperature affect incidence of pediatric trauma. This data contradicts the long-standing belief that fractures increase in summer months when kids are out of school. The research data shows September has the highest rate of fracture consults, possibly due to kids going back to school and organized sports starting back up. Now is the time to make sure your staff is trained on waterproof cast liner application since it’s quickly becoming the standard of care. *source: 2016 study https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5120380/ |
